Save millions with steam.
Our customers know that plants using steam tube dryers with steam generated by biomass or clean coal technologies have significantly lower energy costs. In fact Davenport Dryer customers using coal versus natural gas as an energy source have seen reduced operating costs ranging from $6 million to $10 million annually for a 50MMGY plant.
Steam tube dryers dry at a lower temperature, are resilient and can handle significant upsets. Dryers that use steam as a heat source instead of hot air tend to operate with greater thermal efficiency. In addition, the installed cost of steam tube dryers is roughly the same as those powered by natural gas.
Steam is safer and easier to operate.
Steam tube dryers are easier and safer to operate because they have fewer process parameters to control. Our dryers do not use an open fire like rotary direct fired or ring dryers, so during an upset the product is not exposed to a direct flame and therefore not susceptible to a fire or explosion. Moreover, steam tube dryers are just as safe during start-up and shut-down as they are during operation. Steam tube dryers simply don't experience fires.
Davenport steam tube dryers dry using conduction at a low temperature range - 250 to 350 degrees - resulting in a more consistent and higher quality end- product. Our steam tube dryers are able to handle a broader range of input variables and yet deliver a more consistent, high-quality DDGS.
All of Davenport Dryer's models are poised to handle dry fractionation technology, a process that many see as the future for ethanol producers.
